What is the author's purpose for "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost?

There are several different interpretations. The most superficial is that the author is just stopping in the woods to admire the beautiful snow. However, several critics who have yzed it more closely have theorized that the author is actually contemplating suicide.
