Is it possible to have a negative pregnancy test and still have a multiple pregnancy?

I know your hormones are higher with multiples but I took a test the other day (I did take it a few days early though, and it was not an early detection test) and it was negative. Twins run in my family so I am wondering if I am pregnant could there still be a chance I might have twins? Retesting Monday if my period doesn't show this weekend. It's due tomorrow. hoping it says away, I want my BFP.
